Simply tell this app where you want to go, using your iPhone's built-in mapping function, and set the alarm. You can sit back and enjoy the journey, worry and hassle free; even if you curl up and go to sleep, you'll be woken up before your destination, saving you from spending the night on a train station bench or paying for an expensive taxi ride home.

How to Use

Setting Your Destination

When you start Train Alarm for the first time, your initial destination will be Ooizumi-Gakuen Station in Japan. If you happen to live there, great! Otherwise, you will want to set your destination to your home station. Simply press the "settings" button on the application's home screen, and then click on "Destination". This will open up a map with a search bar. Type in your Destination (anything that Google Maps knows about!), hit "search" and wait for your location to appear. Click "Done" when you have selected your destination.

Setting the Alarm Radius

The default is 500 meters, which means that as soon as you get to within 500 meters of your destination, the alarm will sound. This is great for above-ground trains (and cars!) but you may want to increase it in the case of subways, which may have spottier reception. If you set the alarm radius so that the alarm will ring at the station *before* yours, this will help mitigate any poor signal in your train station.

Setting the Alarm Behaviour

By default, Train Alarm will sound an alarm and vibrate your iPhone when you get within your alarm radius. If you like, you can turn off either the "alarm" or "vibration" in the settings window.

Using WakeMeShakeMe Train Alarm

After you have set your destination and alarm radius (Train Alarm will remember them for next time), you are ready to go! Just start up Train Alarm and start snoozing! The screen will count down the distance to your destination (and when you get within 2km, the countdown bar will start to disappear!) and when you get there, Train Alarm will make sure that you know it by sounding an alarm and vibrating your phone. If you need to check your progress, you can click on the "map" button which will display your current location and your destination. Be sure to leave Train Alarm running for your entire journey; it can't sound an alarm if it isn't running!
